Travels in Cuenca

The very afternoon Dad and G'mama left to go back home, my roommates, Diana y Miryam, y yo hopped on a bus to go to Cuenca for our 3 day vacation from school!

Cuenca is 7. hours. away.
(on a bus)

But we made it just fine! And compared to Macas, Cuenca is COLD!! But nothing compared to a Mississippi winter!

This are some pictures from the military parade that we watched the first morning we got there...

(Did I mention we rode the bus overnight, coming and going?) :)

After our visit inside the Museum of Ecuadorian Cultures (roughly translated..) we did some sight-seeing around town!

We went to an Artisan "Fair" and Miryam made me try almost every "dulce" (sweet)  we came upon..."because it's tipico!!"

Cuenca is a beauuuutiful city! Lots of art, culture, music, beautiful architecture and old buildings!

I thought this was a statue until he leaned over my way and scared me to death!

eating dinner after a long day of sight-seeing and shopping!

Beautiful cathedrals at night!

The view from our window (at Diana's families house)

View of the whole city

Lunch overlooking the city

The Plaza de Flores!! One of my favorite stops!! So beautiful.

A Chola Cuencana--a typically dressed woman from Cuenca. Their skirts with embroidery are simply beautiful!

We had such a wonderful time in Cuenca....was a much needed holiday!

The Lord always knows just what we need, doesn't He? He is so good.

All for The Kingdom!
